Andreea Pislaru’s work investigates forms of embodiment, the grotesque and its cultural associations with the flesh and the feminine by deconstructing the body as a means of transgression. By shifting conventional parameters of the human structure, she aims to translate non-physical experiences such as impermanence, disembodiment and displacement into tangible forms. While investigating forms of entertainment and fetishism, Andreea sculpts new, reformulated identities.
Compressed Variance examines bodies’ capacity to perform themselves in and in-between spaces, in both the psychological and physical realms. The objects exist as a stage for self-limitations, fears and desires.
