CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
Did you attend The Nightingale Club on Thorp Street, Witton Lane or Camp Hill?
Are you interested in sharing your memories of what these buildings looked like?
Curator Ryan Kearney is working with Intervention Architecture to create 3D renderings, architectural plans and models of what the ‘Gale previously resembled. Participants are invited to share their recollections of the club’s past locations, interiors and architecture to help fill in the gaps of Birmingham’s LGBT archive and to reinforce the importance of communal spaces to the city’s LGBTQI+ community. All contributions will help form an exhibition at Recent Activity in May 2019.
This project focusses on the club’s following venues:
- 50 Camp Hill, Bordesely Green (1969-1975)
- 10-12 Witton Lane, Aston (1975-1981)
- 37-40 Thorp Street, City Centre (1981-1994)
